As part of treatment, medication may be an important option for children with developmental and behavioral disorder. If this is the case, a child should be followed closely by a physician or psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Medication management has been proven to be effective in the treatment of developmental and psychological disorders identified in comprehensive evaluations. It is often the case that the most effective intervention is a combination of counseling (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy) and medication management.
